Congratulations to Renewable Energy Generation on the commencement of operation of their Denzell Downs wind farm in Cornwall. This five turbine project required detailed assessment of the potential for effects on several species of bats, as well as birds and other wildlife. The application was initially granted permission by Cornwall Council in 2011, but was then subject to a judicial review. The court upheld the permission and the project was able to proceed, with construction finally complete in November 2015. Avian Ecology provided comprehensive surveys and planning support, designing and agreeing bespoke mitigation and enhancement measures with Natural England, the developer and the landowner which ensure the development and nature can co-exist. We also provided clear and robust advice to Renewable Energy Generation throughout the complex legal JR process finally leading to a successful development – a long time in the making!

More details of the project can be found on the Renewable Energy Generation website here.
