Colin is an experienced field ecologist with particular expertise in ornithology and regularly undertakes surveys for mammals, great crested newts, reptiles and habitats. He is experienced in managing the ornithological element of a range of projects, including residential developments, renewable energy developments and large infrastructure operations. He regularly produces legally robust technical reports for a range of clients. Colin has also carried out Ecological Clerk of Works activities for variety of development projects.  He has a Natural England (and Natural Resources Wales) Great Crested Newt Licence and a Natural England Barn Owl Licence. He has also been the named ecologist on a Natural England European Protected Species Mitigation Licence (EPSL) for a housing development in north-west England. Colin has written a variety of reports and articles, including baseline ecological technical reports, has contributed to a number of Environmental Statements and has provided information for inclusion in Habitat Regulations Assessments for a range of projects, including residential, solar and flood defence schemes. He has also written 14 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, including two which regard the impact of development on birds in the UK.
