Joe Stevens

Joe is a competent field surveyor with a particular interest in mammals, especially badger, otter and water vole. He holds a Natural England class one great crested newt licence and has a keen interest in biodiversity net gain. He has undertaken many complex assessments using a range of biodiversity metrics, including the Natural England 2.0 and 3.0 metrics. Joe has worked in various sectors including road, rail, water, flood defences, housing, and solar for a range of clients and has worked on multiple nationally significant infrastructure projects in the transportation sector. Joe has excellent communication and project management skills and engages early with clients to determine a pragmatic approach that delivers the best result for developments and that enhances nature within sites allowing any ecological constraints to be identified and mitigated for early in the design process. Joe writes a variety of reports, including preliminary ecological appraisal, ecological impact assessment, species specific reports, protected species licence applications, management plans, and environmental statements. Joe has experience in delivering construction phases of projects as both the named ecologist on development licences and as an ecological clerk of works.
