With a lifelong enthusiasm for nature and the outdoors, Sam has gained wide ranging voluntary and work experience in conservation and ecological consultancy following on from a successful career in environmental town planning. She is an accomplished field worker, with a particular interest and expertise in botany. Since joining Avian Ecology in 2017, Sam has completed a wide range of field surveys including regular Extended Phase 1’s, arable weed surveys and upland NVC botanical work.  As well as taking the botany lead at Avian, she regularly completes protected species surveys, and has expertise in bats, badgers and great crested newts. Sam is also skilled in reporting and continues to apply the experience gained in her previous role in planning to a wide range of ecological reporting.
